Would it be necessary to do temple work for our deceased daughter who did not need to be baptized because of mental limitations from down syndrome?

Gramps,
Last year our 12 year old daughter with down syndrome died due to heart and lung defects. Some ward members told my wife that she needed to have her temple work performed but I am a little confused because in the past I was told by a stake president not to baptize her when she turned eight because she did not need it. I know that she is a celestial child so, my questions are will she ever have to have her temple work performed, will it have to be done by proxy or is this something that will be revealed during the millennium?
Charles, from Claremore, Oklahoma

Dear Charles,
Apparently your daughter was judged by your stake president to be not sufficiently accountable for any violations of any of the principles of the gospel to require the cleansing of the baptismal ordinance. If you and your wife were married in the temple prior to her birth she would have been born under the covenant of your eternal marriage, and would thereby be sealed to you and your wife as your child for the eternities. If you have not been married in the temple or if you had your temple marriage after she was born, it would be necessary to have her sealed to you by proxy in the temple. She would then have exactly the same status in your family as if she had been born under the marriage covenant.
