What happens to childern born under the covenant in the Mormon Church when their parents divorce?

GrampsWhat happens to childern born under the covenant in the Mormon Church when their parents divorce. The mother is still temple worthy. The father is not and is inactive. The woman wants to be sealed to her new husband and has done what she needs to have done to have the sealing to her ex-husband cancelled. The man refuses to do what he needs to because of the children. What can be done in that case? What happens to the children if they would happen to die? Thanks,

Teri, from Tennessee

Dear Teri,

Children born under the covenant in the Mormon Church will inherit the celestial kingdom. If the faithful mother re-marries for eternity, the children do not need to be re-sealed to the new relationship. If the parents are unfaithful to their temple covenants, the children will still inherit the celestial kingdom, but will be sealed, perhaps during the millennium, to other worthy parents.

If the children abide by all the covenants of the gospel and are sealed to their own spouses during mortality, they will join the patriarchal order of exalted persons in the celestial kingdom, and be part the priesthood chain that extends from Adam to the latest generation.
