Was there a reason why I was given all boys and no girls?

Dear Gramps,
I have three beautiful, healthy precious boys, and I will not be able to have any more children because of health issues, but I wonder if there’s a reason why I was given all boys and no girls?
Haydee, from Salt Lake City, Utah

Haydee,
There undoubtedly was a reason. In the pre-mortal spirit world we signed up to what our mortal experience would be. But part of the deal was that we would have to live up to it without remembering what it was. That approach requires the application of the principle of faith. We are to accept that which is meted out to us in this life as if we knew that it would happen, and that it would be part of our training for the future responsibilities that we will remember once we have crossed over to the other side of mortality. So we accept each challenge and each opportunity in life as if we knew that’s the way it should be, and we were commissioned in the pre-existence to make the best of it.
