The more modern translations of the Bible are more accurate than the King James Version.

Gramps,

Comment on Jehovah/Jesus. Why do you always refer to the KJV in “proving” this claim? Numerous other modern translations in English and other languages are more accurate and contextually correct! See John 19:37.

Tiko

Dear Tiko,

I’m curious how you can state that the more modern translations of the Bible are more correct than the King James Version. I wonder on what you base that claim. Are you comparing the modern versions and the KJV against the early Hebrew and Greek texts?

Let me dispute your claim with some researched justification. All arguments start with a priori postulates. The given postulates in this argument are that the Book of Mormon is the word of God– in the words of the Prophet who translated it from Egyptian hieroglyphs into English, it is the most correct of any book on earth (Book of Mormon, Introduction).

The original writers of the Book of Mormon copied twenty chapters of the Book of Isaiah into their record (and very likely they were copied from the original writings of Isaiah, but that is another story). However, the Book of Mormon was translated into English (postulate number two) in the words of Joseph Smith, who did the translation, “by the gift and power of God.” Therefore, the Book of Mormon Isaiah is the most correct, and also the most ancient biblical scripture in existence. Using the Book of Mormon Isaiah as the standard and comparing it with the various versions of the Bible, it fits more closely to the King James than to any other version.

(For a comparison of the KJV with the English translation of verses from the Book of Isaiah found in the dead sea scrolls, access the Ask Gramps web site, enter “Vermes” in the Search Ask Gramps box, and you will find the comparison near the end of that article.
