Should I write another chapter in the Book of Mormon, as in my dreams I am told to?

Gramps,
I’ve been having nightly visions where the Prophet Joseph Smith appears to me. He’d like me to write another chapter in the Book of Mormon. Should I? I’m not a crank… this is really happening to me. Not sure what to.
Ray, from Boise, Idaho

Dear Ray,
I have no doubt that you are sincere in what you are saying, but I am also positive that those dreams DO NOT represent a revelation from the Lord, nor any kind of visit from Joseph Smith. If they are not simple dreams of no import, then they are without doubt Satan inspired.
The Book of Mormon is a historical record, translated from ancient plates. Only Satan could inspire you to write some so-called addition to that holy scripture. Also, if the Lord, or the Prophet Joseph Smith, for that matter, would have anything added to the scriptures, that instruction would be given to the president of the Mormon Church, not to some ad hoc member. So you many know of a surety that those dreams are not of the Lord and have no true content. If you treat them as being pure fantasy they will probably go away.
