What will happen to those who live good lives but have not had the chance to receive the gospel while in mortality?
Dear Tina,
That is the very purpose of the millennium that follows the first resurrection. In the post mortal spirit world the gospel of Jesus Christ will be taught to all those who did not have the opportunity to receive it while in mortality. However, the essential ordinances for salvation are designed to be performed in mortality. Thus, a mortal strain will continue to exist throughout the millennium. They will consist of the saints of God, and indeed all good people who will be living when the Lord comes. They will continue to live as mortals into the millennium and propagate the mortal strain that will be able to enter the holy temples and perform the essential ordinances for and in behalf of all those who will have accepted the gospel in the post mortal spirit world. Thus they will be heirs of all the blessings that the Father has reserved for those that love Him and who keep His commandments.
