Has the war they talk about in Section 87 of the Doctrine and Covenants already passed or is it the start of the second coming?
Dear Gramps,
Has the war they talk about in Section 87 of the Doctrine and Covenants already passed or is it the start of the second coming?
Mark, South bend, Indiana
Dear Mark,
Verses 1 to 3 talk about the Civil War. Verse 4 refers to hostilities after the Civil War. Slaves rising up against their masters in verse 4 does not refer to the slaves over which the Civil War was fought because it refers to after many days following the Civil War. Verses 4, 5 and 6 refer to the continuing wars that have followed and will continue to follow the Civil War until the consumption decreed shall have made a full end of all nations. We are in that process now, and hopefully near the end of it.
