Is the Jesus Christ referred to in the Mormon Bible, the Jesus Christ that was born in Bethlehem?

Dear Gramps,

Is the Jesus Christ referred to in the Mormon Bible, the Jesus Christ that was born in Bethlehem?

Tracy, from Cincinnati, Ohio

Dear Tracy,

The Jesus Christ referred to in the Mormon Bible is exactly the same person as the Jesus Christ who was born in Bethlehem, because the Mormon Bible is exactly the same Bible that all other Christians use. But perhaps you use the term Mormon BibleĀ to refer to the Book of Mormon. In that case, the Jesus Christ referred to in the Book of Mormon is exactly the same Jesus Christ who is referred to in the Bible. As a matter of fact, we can believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible BECAUSE the Book of Mormon states Him to so be. You see, the Book of Mormon was dictated to Joseph Smith by God and therefore is the most correct of any book on earth, whereas the Bible, as sacred a document as it is, has suffered some deviations and variations through the centuries at the hands of wicked men, and so may be understood in its fulness only by the influence of the Holy Spirit.
