It’s my opinion that Joseph Smith got the Pearl of Great Price from the Masons. What do you think?

Dear Gramps,
This of course is just a theory of mine, that I have only shared with my husband. I wouldn’t go sharing this with people, of course for fear of rumor. But out of curiosity, what do you think of this idea? I, for one, do not believe in the story of how Joseph Smith obtained the Pearl of Great Price, although it sounds believable, in a sense that I am Mormon and believe a lot more than that. But what I think is that he some how obtained them from the Mason’s temple. He was a member of the masons and as far as I know, grew pretty far in their ranks very quickly (as far as they’d let him) I am also aware that they may have possession of ancient artifacts, even to that of the Pearl of Great Price. I am thinking he became a member and did what he did in order to obtain these items for the benefit of our knowledge/God’s will. Otherwise, why else would he be a member?? Perhaps you can shed some light on this for me?
Taylor, from Kauai, Hawaii

Dear Taylor,
I would recommend that you work to sharpen your testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel, and of the fact that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, not a charlatan. There is absolutely no foundation for this “theory” of yours.
