It is true that all of the stakes of the Mormon Church will gather in Missouri once again?

Dear Gramps,
I’ve only been a member of the Mormon Church for a few years. A church member once told me that in the future, all of the stakes will gather in Missouri once again. Is this true? Why will they gather there? Who predicted it, and when did they predict it?
Sherry, from Upstate New York

Dear Sherry,
Not much detail has been revealed about the return of the Saints of the Mormon Church to Missouri. But I”m confident that the prophecies do not say “all of the stakes will gather.” Neither do the prophecies say that all of the saints will gather there. It does appear, however, that before the saints will be called to return to Missouri there will be great civil unrest in the United States. Elder Gerald R. Lund, in his The Coming of the Lord , p.110 said—
“It is not clear from the prophecies just exactly when the return to Missouri will take place in relationship to this time of civil destruction, but Heber C. Kimball spoke of a prophecy made by President Brigham Young in which he said that upon the return of the saints there would be no inhabitants in that area of Missouri to plague the Church.”
