Is it okay to have a crush on a missionary in my area? I want to write him after he leaves too. Is that okay? I know the feelings are mutual between us; however, I don’t want to interfere with his mission in any way. Help me!

Dear Whoever You Are,
There is no problem with having a crush on anyone. However, in the case of missionaries for the Mormon Church, the rule is to keep it to yourself. If you have a crush on some missionary, you probably want the very best for him. One of the worst things that could happen to him on his mission is for some girl to keep approaching him and writing him with amorous advances. At the very least it would distract him from the sacred work for the Savior that he has avowed to do. At the other end of the spectrum, he could even leave the mission to be with his sweetheart–which would be an eternal disaster!
So if you want some help, BACK OFF and let him do his sacred work without distraction. Then I suggest that you get on with your own life, dating other boys and enjoying yourself. You might find someone that you like even more than him. If not, there is no problem with attempting to renew relations after he has returned home from his mission.
