Is it OK to ask a girlfriend to wait for you while you go an a mission for the Mormon Church?

Dear Gramps,

I am currently working hard to save up for a mission and I know that I want to go. I have a girlfriend who I love very much and she loves me. What are the guidelines to having a girlfriend before going on a mission? Is it ok to ask her to wait for me? Or do I need to leave EVERYTHING behind including her when I go? Thanks Gramps.Â Â

Dear Justin,

No problem in having a girl friend before your mission, or in asking her to wait for you. Just don’t expect her to be there when you get back.
