Dear Gramps,

My husband and I have been married for 8 months. I was 20 and he was 23 when we got married. We have been trying to have a baby for 7 months. I know doctors say you shouldn’t get concerned until you have been trying a year to conceive. I am REALLY struggling with not being able to get pregnant. I want to be a mommy more than anything. Does Heavenly Father not trust me? Is the timing wrong? What if I’m infertile? What if my husband is sterile? There appears to be no reason I’m not conceiving. I have searched the scriptures on the topic of infertility and I find nothing. Please help me through this. Thanks.

Dear Holly Anna,

The best advise that I can give to you it to relax. Your very anxiety may decrease your chances of getting pregnant. I can assure you that this delay in conceiving is absolutely no indication that Heavenly Father does not trust you with a family. And I wouldn’t be too concerned at this point that there may be infertility or sterility. Of course, your timing may be wrong, but not being a health care professional, I can give you no specific advise on that score. I can only tell you that we are the parents of five children, and although we had the same desires as you have, our first child wasn’t born until three years after we were married.
