Did the Mormon Church know about the Holocaust during World War II?

Dear Gramps,

Reading the Infobase Gospel Library about this matter, we would like to ask you the following:

1. Did you see the Larry King show with the Rabbis and the Southern Baptist minister?

2. Did the First Presidency of the Mormon Church in the beginning of the forties know that there was a holocaust going on in Germany in WWII?

3. According to late reports of the American Red Cross, they did know…….

4. Why did they not protest at the government?

Shalom

amj

Dear amj,

1. No.

2. I was in the military forces during the WWII. Near the beginning of the war we heard rumors that the Jews were being horribly mistreated. As more and more information leaked out, it was absolutely incredulous. It was hard to disbelieve the reports, but the atrocities that were reported seemed to be beyond the capability of human depravity! As more evidence was revealed, all doubts were erased, and the American people were horrified!

3. OK, so?

4. That question presupposes some evil intent on the part of the First Presidency. I cannot imagine such a question being asked unless from a direct and rather juvenile attempt to discredit the First Presidency in some way. It is not worthy of an answer.
