Can you help me prepare a report comparing Mormonism to Christianity?

Dear Gramps,

I am doing a report comparing Mormonism to Christianity. I cant find anything about the Mormon view of the universe and nature or of the Mormon view of evil can you help me.

Taylor

Dear Taylor,

I’m sure that I could give you all the help you need. But first of all, before I do anything else, there is one glaring error that you MUST correct. Those sponsoring your report may not allow it, but if they don’t, I can be of no help at all.

This is the error. MORMONISM IS CHRISTIANITY!!!!!!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the most Christian organization on the face of the earth. In the first place, look at the name of the Church!! The LDS Church has 13 Articles of Faith, introduced in the very first days after the Church was organized, and accepted by the Church as scripture. The first Article of Faith says the following:

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that the mother of Jesus Christ was the virgin, Mary, and that his father was the Eternal God of Heaven and Earth, Eloheim.

We believe that He lived a perfect live, without sin; that he took upon himself the responsibility to pay to the demands of a divine justice the full price for all the sins committed by all the people on the worlds in all ages of time. Thus, his suffering was infinite in its extent.

We believe that he allowed himself to be murdered on the cross after having overcome all sin by suffering that infinite amount, and on the third day he rose from the tomb a resurrected being–the first being to die a mortal death and the have his body and spirit reunited to live forever in perfection.

We believe that so powerful was that resurrection event that all living things, both plant and animal, will also be resurrected and will live eternally.

We believe that having paid the price for all sin, the Eternal Father may forgive the sins of men by extending his mercy without violating the demands of justice, since the Savior paid the full price.

We believe that through this infinite atonement of Jesus Christ the Father will forgive all the sins of all those who thoroughly repent of their wrong doing, recognize Christ as their Savior, be baptized by immersion for the remission of their sins by one having the requisite priesthood authority to do so, receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands of those with priesthood authority, and who subsequently live honorable lives, obedient to the will of the Father.

Now, you tell me if you can find any so-called Christian church in the world that is more Christ-like than the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

So if your report can compare Mormonism with the doctrine and practices of OTHER Christian churches, I would be glad to help you all I can. But I cannot subscribe to the blatant falsehood propagated by the sectarian religions that Mormons are not Christians.

That allegation is made on the bases that the Mormons do not subscribe to the sectarian notion of the identity and role of Jesus Christ. But to make the false leap from merely stating that difference to the blasphemous position that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not a Christian church is simply untenable.
