Can I trust my new boyfriend to not cheat on me?

Dear Gramps,

I was in a relationship for four years and was supposed to get married and he cheated on me so now it is over but I am happier now! I have a new boyfriend but he is six years younger than me but he makes me really happy, He had also broken up with his girlfriend not long before we started dating. Can I trust him not to cheat on me? I’m just afraid to give this relationship my all and get hurt again.

Christina, from Frederic, Michigan

Dear Christina,

You are hurt because your boyfriend cheated on you, when all the time you have been cheating on your own Father!! I’m talking about your Heavenly Father. You are a spirit child of God. He has sent you to earth at this particular time because all the teachings, instructions, laws and ordinances that are required for you to live a happy and fulfilling life are now available. However, unless you follow the instructions of your Heavenly Father that are motivated by His desire for your own never-ending happiness, you will NEVER be happy.

It is true that you can find momentary and transitory pleasure in attempting to satisfy your bodily appetites and passions. However, there are eternal consequences to our actions that we cannot escape, and the consequences of violating the sacred law of strict chastity has extremely dire eternal consequences!

So my advise to you is to avoid this new illicit relationship like the plague! Be true to yourself and live an honorable life in every respect. Let chastity be your most important watchword. Associate with those who will help you to do the will of the Lord, and avoid like the plague those that would satisfy their own lusts by enticing you to commit the gravest of sins.
