Can a worthy single mother have her child sealed to her?

Gramps,

My 20-year-old daughter had a child without being married. She has kept her son, remained active in Church and was told by the Bishop that she was could take the Temple-ready classes to prepare herself for going to the Temple. My question is, can she have her son sealed to her?

Candi, from California

Dear Candi,

Children can only be sealed to a father and a mother. Your daughter is to be congratulated on becoming worthy to go to the temple. The time will come when she will find a companion, and if they are married in the temple, then would be the time to have her son sealed to his mother and her husband.
