Our earth has been termed the worst world of all His creations. With that in mind, are we the only world evil enough that He permitted us to have the atomic bomb?

Dear Sugar,

What makes you think that the atom bomb is evil. Good and evil come from the minds of men, not from inanimate objects. Is electricity evil because it is used to put people to death? Are airliners evil because they are used to destroy buildings and kill thousands of people? Atomic energy is one of the great boons of mankind. And were it not for such groups as the EPA and other similar organizations that have impeded the progress of science and technology by ridiculous concerns over comparatively inconsequential things, we would be living in a much more advanced and happy society than we are now.

As a case in point, this is how ridiculous the whole situation has become. The 1,000 or so residents of Block Island, 12 miles off the New England coast, are now facing six weeks or more with no aviation access, because the local airport corporation plans to close their lone 2,500-foot runway for reconstruction. The New England Airlines, that operates out of this island, has proposed that the grassy area adjacent to the runway should be made available so they can continue to fly the airlines’ six flights per day. At a recent meeting about the shutdown, concerns were raised that using the grass strip would disturb the habitat of the endangered burying beetle! More concern is being expressed over the welfare of a local insect than is given to the 1,000 or so people that depend on the airlines to provide their essential transportation needs–like getting back and forth to work, and supplying the residents with the essentials of life!!
